his year, Google was releasing its newest Android 5.1 for Nexus smartphones and tablets. About a month later, all the devices of Nexus family have received the new Lollipop 5.1 update, expect for the tablet co-developed by HTC and Google, Nexus 9. As you probably know that, the 8.9-inch tablet was updated on Android 5.0 for a while and now it has received an new update to Android 5.0.2 Lollipop 5.0.2 which was quite buggy. If your device is a Nexus 9 one, then you need to know that a new update is being rolled out. The newest Nexus 9 Android 5.1.1 factory image has already been updated to Google repository and users should begin to receive the automatically notification with it. Unfortunately, it comes in stages, which means that it will not be available in the same time for all devices. Normally, when your Nexus 9 device becomes eligible to receive the new update by OTA(over-the-air), an automatically message should be displayed in the device’s notifications bar letting the user to update its device, only by pressing on the notification, then select “Download Now” and to wait until the download is completed, when the download is successfully done, select “Install Now”. Once the new firmware is completely installed, your tablet should reboot and install the update. In case the automatically notification message doesn’t appear you can update the device by using a manual method under Settings > About device > System updates > Check now. Alternatively, if you don’t want to wait for the stock release, you can download and install the new Android 5.1.1 on your Nexus 9 tablet by using a factory image (Download here) or the over-the-air zip file available Download here. This factory image is usual when you want to install a stock OS on your device over the actual custom ROM. Keep in mind that when you’ll flash a stock rom by using a manual step by step guides all data will be wiped in the flashing process. The new Android 5.1 is not a signified update, it is just a maintenance release especially released to offer stability and to fix some bugs. In addition, the update comes with behavior of the ‘Bluetooth’ and ‘Wi-Fi’ tiles in Quick Settings, tweaked the contacts creating / editing interface, animations for the ‘Auto-rotate’ toggle, ability to manually remove ‘Hotspot’ and ‘Color inversion’ dynamic tiles and more.
